PROSPEEDFLYING

speedflying and speedriding school

School

Beginner course

! Entry requirements: paragliding or skydiving background.

How long: 7 days (beginner) or 10 days (beginner extended).

Next course: 10-16 June (Beginner, France), 4-13 September (Extended, Montenegro), 6-12 October (Beginner, France).

Group: 2-6 persons.

Where: France/Montenegro, area with numerous grassy hills for different stages or learning. Extended course in Montenegro has a line with lift access (for later stage of the course).

What the course is about:

This course starts with gear review and some theoretical info about speedflying wings and harnesses. Then we have groundhandling sessions and start practicing launches. It’s very important to have good control of your wing while running and doing little flights close to the ground. Big part of this course is the choice of flying locations as after the course you are expected to be able to fly solo on similar hills. The main purpose of the course is to deal with different types and techniques of launches and, ideally, master no-wind launches from slopes. With more experience we move to bigger and bigger flights, gaining more altitude and trying various conditions. Within an extended course you’ll also be able to practice accuracy approaches on moderately limited landings, preparing to fly in big mountains. As we are going to have some decent flying altitude (up 700 m, weather-permitting) you will also start practicing basic piloting skills, learn to choose flying lines and suitable weather.

Depending on the group we should also be able to touch bigger hike’n’flying missions closer to the end of the course.

After a successful beginner course you can buy your own gear and aim for basic course in the Alps (with skis or footlaunching). Also you will be able to fly solo on similar simple locations. As a part of basic course offer, we welcome our “graduates” to come practice within our beginner courses on their own for free.

Progressive course — footlaunching

Those having their own gear and able to confidently footlaunch it in no-wind conditions can get into our big mountain course.

How long: 6 days.

Next course: 30 June - 5 July, 18-23 August (France).

Group: 3-5 persons.

Location: France, ski resort with good flying altitude. Rather simple launches and landing and interesting flying lines. With good weather up to 5-8 flights per day are possible.

What the course is about:

Here you’ll continue perfecting your slope launches, learn more about the weather in the mountains and how to plan your flight on a big line. With a lot of flying time you’ll learn more about your own wing. The theory also includes flying ethics, the rules of flying on a resort and big mountain weather patterns. Two coaches with a group on this course. This is not a course to try a new wing — you should already be familiar with your gear. Our main objective is to get as much air time as possible and to learn your wing in different weather and different conditions. After this course we expect you to be able to fly solo in the same place and other popular resorts.

Pics and videos included.

Requirements: confident slope launches with no wind, accuracy landing, own gear, insurance.

Progressive course — skilaunching

Those having their own gear and having mastered beginner skills in footlaunching can move on to the second stage.

How long: 6 days.

Next course: 28 January - 2 February, 24-29 March (France).

Group: 3-6 persons.

Location: France/Italy, ski resort with good flying altitude and ski lifts. Weather permitting this is a very efficient course. Easy and safe launches are within minutes from the lifts. Ski launching opens bigger range of flying weather. Versatile flying lines. Up to 10-15 flights on a good weather day.

What the course is about:

On this course we teach different ski-launching techniques, weather patterns in big mountains and how to plan your lines. This course is similar to summer basic course, except for skilaunches. With a lot of flying time you’ll learn more about your own wing. The theory also includes flying ethics and rules of flying on a resort and big mountain weather patterns — we’ll try to cover and witness winter peculiarities of weather. Also two coaches with a group on this course. Our main objective is to get as much air time as possible and to learn your wing in different weather and different conditions. After this course we expect you to be able to fly solo in the same place and other popular resorts. This is not a fully speedriding course, we just include some aspects of it and make the available range and seasons of  flying much wider and versatile.

Requirements: successful beginner stage, accuracy landing, confident freeriding skills, own gear, insurance, avalanche gear.
